The logo of the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology expounds an optimum homage to the famous saint Hazrat Shahjalal (R).

The Islamic arch & minar have been used in the decoration of the monogram symbolizing the mighty steps that had been taken by Hazrat Shahjalal (R) in propagating Islam.

The vessel below signifies the 'Kisti`. There goes a hearsay that he used his 'Jainamaz` (Prayer mat) as 'Kisti` to cross rivers and streams.

The open book in the middle signifies wisdom and enlightenment. The structure of an atom and of a pair of compasses has been engraved to emphasize the importance of science and technology. 'Two leaves and a bud` point to the characteristic features of Sylhet region, famous for tea plantation.
