Procedure:
Admission Test will be conducted under the
units 'Ka',
'Kha',
'Ga', and
'Gha'.
Subjects under the
units:
1. 'Ka'
Unit – i) Physics, ii) Chemistry, iii)
Mathematics, and iv) Statistics.
2. 'Kha' Unit – i) Economics, ii) Sociology, iii)
Social Work, iv) Anthropology, v) Political Studies, vi) Public Administration,
vii) Business Administration, and viii) English
3. 'Ga' Unit – i) Forestry, ii) Tea Technology,
iii) Biotechnology, and iv) Genetics
4. 'Gha' Unit – i) Civil & Environmental
Engineering, ii) Computer Science & Engineering, iii) Chemical Engineering
& Polymer Science, iv) Industrial & Production Engineering, v) Petroleum
& Georesources Engineering, and vi) Architecture
Prerequisite:
Either
Þ SSC/ Dhakil in the year
2002/2003,
Þ HSC/ Alim/ Diploma-in-Commerce in the year
2004/2005
Þ Minimum 2.5 GPA with 4th subject grading in each of the SSC and
HSC examinations,
Þ In case of
'Kha'
unit minimum total GPA 5.0 and 5.75 GPA
for other units (including the grading of 4th subject)
or
Þ Passed in 5 subjects with at least C grade
in 3 subjects in GCE O Level,
Þ Passed with at least C grade in 2 subjects
in GCE A Level

Admission Test
Procedure:
Candidates will have to appear at a one
and half hour long written examination which comprises of multiple choice
questions (MCQ) of total 70 marks (questions will be in Bangla; however, if a
student requires English version of questions, (s)he must write to the chairman
of the admission committee for the same at the time of filling up the
application form). Distribution of marks under different units:
Þ 'Ka'
&
'Gha' Unit – 10 in English, 20 in each of
Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics
Þ 'Kha' Unit –
Compulsory: 10 in Bangla, 20 in English, 10 in
Bangladesh & International Affairs,
Group wise Marks
Distribution: 30 in Social
Science related subjects (Economics, Civics, Psychology, Logic, Social Welfare,
and Sociology) or 30 in Commerce related subjects (Commercial Geography,
Commerce, Economics, Accounting, and Book Keeping) or 30 in Science related
subjects (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics)
Þ 'Ga' Unit – 10 in English, 20 in each of
Physics, Chemistry, Biology.
Minimum marks in the
admission test in the related subjects are required for admission into the
following subjects:
Þ 40% in each of Physics & Mathematics
for admission into Physics, Computer Science & Engineering, Industrial &
Production Engineering, Petroleum & Georesources Engineering, and
Architecture
Þ 40% in each of Chemistry & Mathematics
for admission into Chemistry, and Chemical Engineering & Polymer
Science
Þ 40% in each of Physics, Chemistry &
Mathematics for admission into Civil & Environmental Engineering
Þ 40% in Mathematics for admission into
Mathematics, and Statistics
Þ 40% in each of Biology & Chemistry for
admission into Forestry, Biotechnology, Tea Technology and Genetics
Þ 40% in Economics/ Mathematics/ Statistics/
Commercial Geography for admission into Economics
Þ 40% in English for admission into English,
and Business Administration
Candidates for admission will be selected
on the basis of total scores obtained in the written examination plus 3 times
the SSC & HSC GPA with 4th subject grading for students who passed
the HSC examination in 2005. In other cases 2.7 times the SSC & HSC GPA with
4th subject grading will be used.
Candidates interested in Architecture will
have to appear another drawing examination of 20 marks before admission. A
student will not be allowed if the marks obtained in drawing is less than 40%.
Merit list for Architecture department will be based on the grand total of marks
obtained in drawing and the MCQ test.
Foreign
Students: with valid
documents (photocopies of mark sheets, certificates, SSC/SLC and HSC/PUC
equivalence certificates, 3 passport size photographs, first 5 pages of passport
etc duly attested by the respective high
commission/embassy) and a letter from the respective high commission/ embassy
mentioning the student will not take part in any activities subversive of the
state or of university and have sufficient funds available to spend required
moneys for education purpose/ expenditures; must contract in written with
the chairman of the admission committee on or before 30 April, 2006. Only two
seats in each of the department is available for foreign students. A foreign
student may apply for more than one department in order of preference. Final
selection will be on one department of choices mentioned in the application
according to merit. Admission test is not required for foreign candidates.
However, an oral aptitude test may be required before final admission
confirmation. Late applications will not be considered. Please note that, an
approximate US 200 $ will be required per annum to meet the admission, tuition,
and examination fees of two semesters. Approximately another US 100 $ will be
required as caution money. Subject to the availability of seats in the students
hall, approximately another US 100 $ will be required which is excluding food,
personal expenses, books,
etc. Financial aid is not available to
foreign students.
