The Department of English is presently offering the Honours course for its students, divided into eight semesters of a total of 140 credits. The four-year extended course covers the significant literary works from all forms of English, European, American and Asian Literature. On successful completion of the Honours degree, the interested students would be enrolled in the M. A. program.

Also the Department is conducting two English language courses for all the students of the University, one is compulsory and the other is discretionary. As the part of these language courses, the Department also offers two lab courses in the two semesters of 1st Year Honours class for all Departments. At the end of the course, the University degree holder, from any department or discipline, is expected to be affluent in listening, reading, speaking and writing English.

The Department of English has a laden and sophisticated seminar library with some sitting accommodations. To serve students’ interests, two faculty members co-coordinate the facilities round the year. 

Manned with fourteen teaching staff, the Department is working with a view to upgrading the English language modus operandi nationwide and catering to the literary evolves as well.
