Oral Saline ProjectOral Saline Project started on 23/07/04 and went on production on 26/07/04. The initial fund for the research was provided by the Research Initiatives of Bangladesh. It took a little while to improve the taste of the saline. Adjacent photo shows an oral saline packet. More pictures are at Oral Saline Photos.
Organizations and individuals collect the oral saline from SUST, and distribute them among the flood victims. These distributors are selected on the basis of reputation. They submit a requisition and are provided with required number of packets to distribute. They are required to return evidence of receipt by real flood-affected people.
Water Purification Project started on 20/07/04. It took a fair amount of research to develop the formula and try on differently contaminated water. The initial fund for the research was provided by the Research Initiatives of Bangladesh. It also took a while to modify the formula for balancing the pH of the purified water. Production started on 29/07/04 and distribution follows. The next picture shows a furnished water purifier kit. More pictures are at Water Purifier Photos.
Like oral saline, water purifier kits are also not distributed directly by the committee. The same distributors distribute the water purifier kits.
The Stationery Project targets the children going at schools of flood affected areas. The schools in those areas were forced to closed firstly to provide emergency shelter, secondly they themselves being affected. It took some time for the schools to reopen and start the normal classes. But most children in flood affected areas have lost their books, pencils, bare stationeries and even their clothing. The SUST Flood Aid Fund with your help extended hands to these children through Stationery Project. Each stationery set contains specially designed four notebooks (two for Bengali, two for Math), two pencils, one eraser, one pen, a T-shirt, a small packet of assorted vegetable seeds and an envelope. The envelope is address to the SUST Flood Aid Fund so that they could write us informing their feelings and wishes. A typical stationery set is shown. More photographs are here. Seed packaging photographs can be viewed at here.
