Prerequisite:
Either
Þ SSC/ Dhakil in the year 2004-2005,
Þ HSC/ Alim/ Diploma-in-Commerce in the year 2006-2007
Þ Minimum 2.5 GPA with 4th subject grading in each of the SSC and HSC examinations,
Þ In case of 'Kha' unit minimum total GPA 5.0 and 5.75 GPA for other units (including the grading of 4th subject)
or
Þ Passed in 5 subjects with at least C grade in 3 subjects in GCE O Level,
Þ Passed with at least C grade in 2 subjects in GCE A Level

Candidates will have to appear at a one and half hour long written examination which comprises of multiple choice questions (MCQ) of total 70 marks (questions will be in Bangla; however, if a student requires English version of questions, (s)he must write to the chairman of the admission committee for the same at the time of filling up the application form). Distribution of marks under different units:
Þ 'Ka' & 'Gha' Unit – 10 in English, 20 in each of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics
Þ 'Kha' Unit – Compulsory: 20 in Bangla,30 in English, (10+10=) 20 in Bangladesh & International Affairs
Þ 'Ga' Unit – 10 in English, 20 in each of Physics, Chemistry, Biology.
Þ Group wise Marks Distribution: 30 in Social Science related subjects (Economics, Civics, Psychology, Logic, Social Welfare, and Sociology) or 30 in Commerce related subjects (Commercial Geography, Commerce, Economics, Accounting, and Book Keeping) or 30 in Science related subjects (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics)
Minimum marks in the admission test in the related subjects are required for admission into the following subjects:
Þ 40% in each of Physics & Mathematics for admission into Physics, Computer Science & Engineering, Industrial & Production Engineering, Petroleum & Georesources Engineering, and Architecture
Þ 40% in each of Chemistry & Mathematics for admission into Chemistry, and Chemical Engineering & Polymer Science
Þ 40% in each of Physics, Mathematics & drawing for admission into Architechture
Þ 40% in each of Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics for admission into Civil & Environmental Engineering
Þ 40% in Mathematics for admission into Mathematics, and Statistics
Þ 40% in each of Biology & Chemistry for admission into Forestry, Biotechnology, Tea Technology and Genetics
Þ 40% in Economics/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Commercial Geography for admission into Economics
Þ 40% in English for admission into English, and Business Administration
Þ 40% in Bangla for admission into Bangla

Candidates for admission will be selected on the basis of total scores obtained in the written examination plus 3 times the SSC & HSC GPA with 4th subject grading for students who passed the HSC examination in 2007. In other cases 2.7 times the SSC & HSC GPA with 4th subject grading will be used.
Candidates interested in Architecture will have to appear another drawing examination of 20 marks before admission. A student will not be allowed if the marks obtained in drawing is less than 40%. Merit list for Architecture department will be based on the grand total of marks obtained in drawing and the MCQ test.

Shahjalal University of Science & Technology Sylhet is inviting applications for admission form foreign students in the 1st year 1st semester for the session 2007-2008. Those who fulfill the following criteria are eligible to apply.
The candidates must have either at least second division or a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.75 in both Higher Secondary Certificate (H.S.C) or equivalent and Secondary School Certificate (S.S.C) or equivalent examination, or a third division in either S.S.C/equivalent or H.S.C/equivalent and a first division in the other examination or they must have passed in at least five subjects in GCE “O” Level and in at least two subjects in “A” Level examination.
Last date of submission of application is JANUARY 24, 2008. The result will be published in website www.sust.edu. The successful candidates will have to get themselves admitted immediately as the class will be start soon.
