Admission

           Minimum Qualification for admission into M. Phil is 50% marks or GPA 3.00 in B. Sc, M. Sc and B. S. S, M. S. S degree in the relevant branch or an equivalent from any recognized institution.

           Part time enrollment : A candidate serving in any organization may admitted as part time student with a written consent of the employer. A part time student may be assigned for a maximum of 9 credit hours if course work in any semester.

           Full time enrollment : A full time student must register for a minimum of 12 credit hours and a maximum of 15 credit hours per semester. A full time student shall not be allowed to be in employment of any organization even as a part time employee. However, he/she may employee as teaching/research assistant at the University.

Academic Regulation

          Minimum duration of M. Phil course shall be two semesters. A candidate for the M. Phil degree must complete all requirements for the degree within three years.

          For M. Phil the requirement is minimum of 36 credit hours including 18 credits for thesis.

Subject of study

          Graduate Study Committee (GSA) will propose the required courses for a student, the syllabus committee will recommended the courses for approval of the Academic Council through the School and Board of Advanced Studies (BAS). GSC can review the curriculum from time to time and recommended any changes to the syllabus committee as may be considered necessary.

Supervisor

          After the admission, each candidate shall be assigned, by the appropriate GSC and approved by BAS, an advisor or supervisor from among the teachers of the department. The advisor/supervisor shall check and approve student's schedule for the courses, prerequisites, total credit hours as proposed by the GSC recommended by the BAS and approved by the Academic Council. The student is expected to consult his/her supervisor on all academic problems but it is the responsibility of the individual student to see that his schedule confirms to the academic regulations.
