from Head of The Department
The
Department of Statistics is proud to be a part of the Shahjalal
University of Science and Technology. We invite you to join us in
this exciting program of research and practice. The department has
an excellent track record in both teaching and research. We offer
flexible educational pathways, emphasizing the theoretical,
practical, or computational aspects of statistics.
The
existing graduate program of the department serves the needs of
future statisticians in science, industry, business, and government,
as well as provides the necessary background and stimulation for
graduate study. Our graduate program in Statistics emphasizes both
theoretical and applied statistics and includes mathematical
statistics, probability theory, computing, data analysis, scientific
applications, methodology and epidemiology, as well as demography.
We give equal
importance in both research and teaching. Project works are also
encouraged to develop innovative and analytical approach to
statistics learning. The Department provided all facilities for
research work. As a result, many students and teachers enrolled
themselves for research degrees in the Department.
In
addition,
the department actively promotes postgraduate research and many
students go onto study for M.Sc.
MPhil, and PhD
after the graduation degree.
The
Department is informal and friendly, and the Parishankhan
Paribar (an organization of students and
teachers) offers a wide variety of cultural and recreational
activities.
