The Shahjalal
University of Science and Technology is the first
science and technology university
in Bangladesh and many of its
departments are at the international forefront
for research in various fields. The Department of Statistics
has no
exception.
The
department offers a full range of graduate and postgraduate
courses and also offers postgraduate programs. The
research work of the department covers a wide range of topics in statistics, both mathematical and theoretical aspects as well as
applications to different fields. The research expertise of the
faculties reflects
on the quality of teaching and
supervising the students, as well as
on the wide choice of topics offered to
students. |

The scholar-teachers of the Department encourage research activities among the teachers
and students. It provides all facilities for research work.The
department has two research laboratories and one seminar library with
sufficient
books. As a result, many students and teachers enrolled themselves for
research work in the Department.
It also arranges seminars regularly, where the researchers
present their papers.
The department has a association, named Parishankhan
Paribar. Various activities like, cultural, sports and picnic, etc
are organized by this association.
