SUST Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Aminul Haque Bhuyan visits Indiana University, USA

Professor Dr. Md. Aminul Haque Bhuyan, honorable Vice Chancellor of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), visited Indiana University (IU), USA recently with the purpose of gaining experience on facilities and resources at School of Public Health (SPH), Bloomington, Indiana.
During the visit, honorable Vice Chancellor called on faculties and scholars, exchanged views and attended discussions held at the School of Public Health, Indiana University. A presentation entitled “Public Health: Bangladesh Perspective” was given by honorable Vice Chancellor and another video presentation entitled “SUST at a Glance” was made.
A few focused meetings about future perspectives for the programs of BSPH and MPH were held with Dr Justin Otten, Director of Global Health Affairs, Professor Dr Mohammed R. Torabi and Professor Dr Carrie Docherty, Dean and Associate Dean of School of Public Health respectively.
More discussions were held with Dr Khalid Mahmood Khan, Assistant Professor of SPH; Dr Joanna M. Shimek, Assistant Clinical Professor, Department of Environmental Health; Dr. Shawn Conner, Associate Director, International Partnerships; Dr. David Skirvin, School of Public Health; Dr Shawn G. Gibbs, Dean and Professor of Environmental Health; Dr Rodrigo Armijos, Professor of Environmental Health; Dr Andrea Chomistek, Professor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics as well as Professor Dr Dave Lohrmann, Chair of Applied Science and Catherine Sherwood-laughlin, Assistant Chair of Clinical faculty.
It is worth to mention that in 2016, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department of SUST made a partnership with IU about public health capacity building and workforce development through conducting a workshop on “Public Health and You.” More opportunities of mutual cooperation are expected to be materialized in the coming days between IU and SUST.
