15th BAS Sylhet Divisional Science Olympiad Held at SUST

The 15th BAS Sylhet Divisional Science Olympiad 2026 was successfully held at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) on January 3. Organized by the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences (BAS) and hosted by the SUST Department of Chemistry, the event brought together over 150 talented students from 40 institutions across the Sylhet Division. The competition was officially inaugurated by Professor Dr. Mohammad Nizam Uddin, Vice-Chancellor of Sunamganj University of Science and Technology, marking the start of a day filled with rigorous written examinations and interactive scientific sessions.
During the concluding prize-giving ceremony, Aninda Modak of Sylhet Government College and Tasheen Ruhul of Habiganj Government High School were crowned champions in the College and School groups, respectively. A total of 20 outstanding students were selected to represent the division at the upcoming National Science Olympiad at the University of Dhaka on January 17. The ceremony was graced by high-profile academics, including SUST VC-in-charge Professor Dr. Sajedul Karim, as well as the Vice-Chancellors of Sylhet International University and North East University Bangladesh, who all emphasized the importance of nurturing young innovators for the nation's future.
