Biography

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography and Environment at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Sylhet, Bangladesh. Growing up in Lalmonirhat, I was always curious about the forces shaping our landscapes and communities. This curiosity transformed into a passion for understanding how natural hazards, climate change, and human decisions intersect, driving me to pursue advanced studies and research in geography.

During my academic journey, I earned both my Master's and Bachelor's degrees in Geography and Environment from SUST with distinction. My research focuses on leveraging cutting-edge geospatial technologies, machine learning, and GeoAI to solve complex problems like disaster management, climate adaptation, and environmental sustainability. From creating earthquake risk maps to identifying artificial rainwater harvesting zones, my work blends scientific rigor with practical applications, aiming to build resilient communities in climate-vulnerable regions.

I have had the privilege of supervising diverse research projects, ranging from analyzing flash flood impacts on migration to monitoring air quality in urban areas. My professional experience extends beyond academia; as a GIS and RS Analyst at the Bangladesh Center for Advanced Studies, I contributed to innovative projects that combined technology with real-world problem-solving.

Outside my academic life, I find joy in adventure and exploration. Whether it’s playing cricket, running half marathons, cycling, hiking in hilly terrains, or traveling to new destinations, these activities fuel my energy and broaden my perspective.

My mission as an educator and researcher is to inspire the next generation of geographers and environmental scientists. I strive to bridge theory and practice, equipping my students with tools to address today’s challenges while encouraging them to envision a more sustainable and equitable future. Together, we can make a difference—both locally and globally.
