Short Biography

Professor M Feroze Ahmed is an educator, a Civil Engineer and a scientist of high reputation. He graduated in Civil Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in 1968, obtained M.Sc. in Civil Engineering and then Ph.D. from University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK. He was a Professor, Head and Dean of Civil Engineering Faculty, and Director of Planning and Development, Director of U of A (Canada)-BUET Linkage Project and Founder Director of International Training and Research Network centre at BUET. He was also a Visiting Professor at University of Strathclyde, UK. Professor Ahmed was a member, then vice-Chairman and Chairman of Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (WASA) Board. He was Vice-Chancellor of Stamford University Bangladesh and presently he is working as Professor Emeritus at same university Professor Ahmed has about 150 scholarly publications having over 8000 Google Scholar Citations in his credit. He has authored and edited 18 books cataloged in 152 libraries worldwide, some of his books are available online at United Nations University, Harvard University and BUET websites. He has also written chapters of several books published by the world’s leading publishers, The World Bank and World Health Organization. He worked as an expert in 15 projects of high national importance including Bangabandhu Bridge (Jamuna Bridge). Presently he is working as a Member, Panel of Expert for the Design and Construction of Padma Multipurpose Bridge. Professor Ahmed received BUET (Dr. M. A. Rashid Memorial) Gold Medal in recognition of excellence in teaching and research, Institution of Engineers Medal in recognition of services to the nation and engineering profession and Bangladesh Academy of Sciences (Dr. M.O. Ghani Memorial) Gold Medal for contribution towards advancement of science and technology. He was first BUET Coordinator of BUET-MIT(USA) research Team, which received Prince Sultan Bin AbdulAziz Prize for Water. He was recognized as a top scientist in the field of Arsenic Research by American Chemical Society through publication of his works and views under the element ‘Arsenic” in a Periodic Table published by the society citing the works of a contemporary scientist under each element of the Periodic Table. Recently he received Education Leadership Award, under 7th Asia’s Education Excellence Awards Program presented by World Education Congress and CMO Asia at Pan Pacific Merina Hotel in Singapore.. He is a fellow of the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences and Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh and a member of American Society of Civil Engineers, Indian Association for Environmental Management and many other national and international committees and professional societies.
