    • Undergraduate

      Department of Economics, SUST started its bachelor degree program in 1991 with various optional concentrations encompassing B.S.S. Honours in Economics with specialization in Quantitative and Mathematical Economics or B.S.S. combined Honours in Economics and one of numerous other disciplines.

      Before 1999, the undergraduate program was a 3-year program under the rules of University Grants Commission, Bangladesh. In 1999, Department of Economics started 4-year undergraduate program which is compatible with most of the undergraduate programs around the world.

    • Graduate

      Department of Economics, SUST has started its graduate program since 1994 after the completion of Bachelor Program of inaugural batch. Previously the undergraduate program was a 3-year program while the graduate program was a 1-year program. This structure was available in all public universities of Bangladesh under the regulations of University Grants Commission, Bangladesh.

      After that, in 1999, Department of Economics started its 4-year bachelor program which is fully compatible with most of the bachelor program in Economics around the world, especially with the North American Bachelor programs. The depth and quality of this bachelor program is pretty enough both for job market candidates and higher studies in Economics. To develop and strengthen the quality of job market candidates and for higher studies, department of economics started its graduate program with new curriculum and resources in 2003.

      Currently, Department of Economics offers two graduate programs: (a) M.S.S Program (b) M. Phil Program. Both of the programs are conducted by Graduate Study Committee (GSC) of department under the guidance of Board of Advanced Studies (BAS) of SUST. All of the graduate programs must be conducted under the rules and regulations of GSC and BAS.

      M.S.S. Program

      Department of Economics offers two types of MSS Program: (a) A two-semester MSS program(general) which is a course-based program. (b) A three-semester MSS program(Thesis) which is both course and thesis based program. Offered course, Program Handbook and Program Schedule are given here:

      MPhil

      Department of Economics offers M.Phil program which is a 4-semeter program with both course and thesis based.

      Ph. D.

      Currently, Department of Economics is not offering any Ph. D program, but it has a future plan to start Ph.D program.
