Professor
Dr. Zayeda Sharmin is a Professor of Political Studies at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet; a leading Public University in Bangladesh. Prior to joining the University, Dr. Sharmin worked as a Program Associate in the training division of a non-governmental organization, Steps towards Development, an organization and training institute promoting gender & development. She also taught Government and Politics at different University in Bangladesh, India and Sweden. Dr. Sharmin is pursuing research for Save the Children-USA, Swedish-SIDA, University Grants Commission (UGC); Bangladesh. Her academic research has been conducted at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), India, Lunds University and Uppsala University, Sweden and Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh. The focus of her research includes Governance and gender, Climate change and its impacts, Diaspora and Migration politics, Development studies etc. She has a number of academic publications to her credit at home and abroad. Dr. Sharmin regularly contributes her views on socio-political issues in the national media while also contributing to the work of Bangladesh Alliance for Women Leadership (BDAWL), Transparency International; Bangladesh chapter, Bangladesh Poribesh Andolon (BAPA), Bangladesh Political science, Association and others socio-cultural organizations.
