Md. Solaiman Hossain, the eldest son of Md. Zakir Hossen and the late Rosia Begum, was born in Cumilla, Bangladesh. His educational journey began with the successful completion of his SSC and HSC levels in 2006 and 2008, respectively, both achieved in Cumilla. Mr. Hossain initiated his academic pursuit with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree, earned from the Department of Fisheries and Marine Science at Noakhali Science and Technology University in 2012. Subsequently, in 2014, he achieved a postgraduate degree, specifically a Master of Science (M.S.), from the Department of Oceanography at the University of Dhaka. Since December 2016, he has been a faculty member within the Department of Oceanography at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology. His present research endeavours are concentrated on the areas of microplastics and risk analysis. Furthermore, Mr. Hossain boasts a substantial research background in the domain of heavy metal contamination, which formed the core of his master's thesis. During his undergraduate studies, he conducted a research project examining fish abundance and livelihood in Bangladesh. His scholarly contributions encompass more than 20 publications, including peer-reviewed journal articles, authored books, and presentations at scholarly conferences. Mr. Hossain is actively involved in educational initiatives, revealing a diverse array of interests, spanning topics such as Microplastic Pollution & Ecotoxicology, Microplastic Sample Analysis, Bruker Micro FTIR, Marine Information Technologies, Upwelling Patterns by Ocean Data View, and training ranging from Basic to Advanced Geographic Information System (GIS). These pursuits have been facilitated by renowned institutions, including the UNESCO/IOC, International Ocean Institute (IOI), and Ocean Teacher Global Academy (OTGA). He has received grants from the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) and has been awarded multiple grants from the SUST Research Center.
